Building Wedge Style Bar Clamps from Wood

posted on

I am going to be building a table for my daughter over the next couple weeks and I needed some longer clamps. I didn’t want to buy the stuff required to make pipe clamps and the price of clamps are out the roof to begin with, much less trying to buy the length and number of clamps I need. I found Izzy Swans video on making these wedge clamps. I had some 2x4’s I’d gotten from some pallets that were long enough as well as some scrap plywood, so I decided to give them a try. And they are going to work wonderfully for gluing up the top of this table. It’s a pretty simple build and Izzy gave me permission to make a video of the build as the first part of this table build.
I’ll start uploading the table; which will be a kitchen table made from some nice pallet wood I lucked into; sometime next week. And I’ll be using these “Izzy Clamps” to glue up the top. I’m not sure how many videos it will take but I kind of like showing each step being sure that what I’m doing can be understood. Plus you know me; I can talk and goof around more than I should sometimes. I can’t help it, that’s just who I am. Lol
Below are links to Izzy Swan’s video where he shows you better detail on cutting the wedges on the tables saw. I cut mine on my father’s old hand power miter saw. Just felt like using a hand tool. Also there is a link to his youtube channel and his website, Think Woodworks. Thank you Izzy! You’re a genius buddy!
